These rocky mountains are a playground to enjoy all year round.
You can experience the great outdoors any month of the year, in any season in the Banff National Park.
In winter, if you feel a "need for speed" try one of many ski resorts in the area.
If it's not speed you're looking for...try snowshoeing, cross country skiing, or skating. Imagine skating on the pond at the Banff Springs Hotel or the Chateau Lake Louise!!!
If you're looking for tranquility.... maybe dog sleding or a glass of wine in front of a roaring fire...it doesn't get much better than that on a cold winter evening!!!
Spring....
In the Canadian Rockies brings as rebirth of green and the return of wildlife.
With this season comes the melting of ice on the many mountain peaks.
This creates interesting ice flows and fast moving water. Fast moving water means spectacular water falls.
Elbow Falls is also worth a look, it's situated in the backyard of the Banff Springs Hotel. During the spring the water roars over the falls. It's quite a sight!
Get your kids away from their game boys and onto a bike, into a canoe or looking for wildlife!!
The summer months are the busiest. The hotels start raising their room rates, the 3rd week of June til the middle of October. Book early so you're not disappointed.
Fall...
During September and October as fall arrives, the colors of orange, yellow and red cover the mountain slopes.
The crowds are smaller. The hotel rates are cheaper!!!
You'll experience the mountain scenery in a different way. The light is different, the sky is different and even the color of the water is different. Very dramatic.... maybe a romantic weekend getaway or a quiet secluded picnic.
