Storm Mountain Lodge was constructed in 1922. It was one of eight Bungalow Camps built by the Canadian Pacific Railway to promote tourism in the Rocky Mountains.The original lodge and bungalows are still enjoyed by guests today.
The Banff- Windermere Highway officially opened June 1923. The road reaches its highest point at Vermillion Pass, elevation 1708 m (5623 ft.). This is where the Storm Mountain Lodge was built to capture the incredible views. In the early 1920's the Canadian Pacific proclaimed this route as the most spectacular motor trip on the continent. And still is today....
A restoration project of Storm Mountain Lodge on all the historic buildings began in 2003. The interior and exterior of each cabin was being completely restored to retain their 1922 authenticity.
December 17, 2004, marked another important historical date as Storm Mountain Lodge opened to guests for the first time in the winter. Now Storm Mountain can be experienced in all its winter splendor.
A little trivia...in the past, Storm Mountain has also been known as Castle Mountain Bungalow Camp and Mount Eisenhower Bungalow Camp.

Stay and relax in front of a wood burning stone fireplace. Soak in quaint antique clawfoot tubs with brass fixtures, then settle into a handcrafted log bed under a down duvet.
The cabin decor is of the highest quality, yet still reflects the rustic, historic charm of a heritage cabin in a remote mountain setting.
There are fourteen original log cabins constructed in the early 1920's and all completely restored on the interior in 2003. The cabins are well spaced for privacy on a forested site.
The staff ensure the cabins are immaculately clean!!!
One tip...... when starting your first fire in your own cozy cabin....make sure you pile the wood to the very back of the fireplace to ensure all the smoke goes up the chimney.
We didn't do that and within a few moments we couldn't see a thing....we frantically opened the doors and windows to air everything out in chilly November!!!!
All cabins and our lodge are non-smoking.
Storm Mountain Lodge offers Pet Friendly Lodging. Well behaved pets are accepted. An additional charge of $25.00 per day is applicable.
Deposits and Cancellation Policy
On night's deposit is required to confirm reservations. Seven days' notice is required to cancel reservations so that the deposit may be refunded less a $39.00 administration fee. Deposits are non-refundable if cancellations are received withinseven days of your reserved arrival. The deposit cost and cancellation notice period may change for some holiday bookings.
Lodge & Dining Room
The dining room is situated along the wraparound windows in the lodge. It's not far from the lounge, which is warmed by a massive stone fireplace. The decor reflects the commitment to the history of the buildings and the area.
In the evening guests will experience delicious Canadian cuisine. Your romantic dinner is prepared with organic ingredients including naturally raised Alberta meat and fish. Entrees include buffalo, wild salmon, rack of lamb and fee-range chicken.
All the breads, deserts and breakfast pastries are baked on site. You must try their scones.....about 3 inches high and fresh, fresh, fresh...we had a craving for them, jumped into the car for the 110 minutes drive from Calgary for brunch!!!... what a nice drive early in the morning thru the mountains!!! A great way to start the day!!
The dining room has an extensive wine list drawn exclusively from carefully selected Canadian vintages.
You can choose from a lighter menu in the lounge. They can simple relax around a roaring fire and enjoy a great cappuccino or a crisp glass of wine. This should be on your list of how to relieve stress...this will definitely do it!
Your morning starts at the Storm Mountain Lodge enjoying a gourmet breakfast of organic coffee, specialty teas, fresh baked breaded and pastries, lodge-made preserves, granola or fresh fruit.
The chef will also prepare one hot special breakfast daily during the summer and on Saturday and Sunday in the fall, winter and spring.

Lunch 11:30 am to 3:30 pm
Dinner - 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm
(Reservations are Strongly Recommended)
Hiker's lunches can also be prepared for the trail.
The lodge is open daily from 7:30 to 10:00 pm.
Storm Mountain Lodge has a fabulous Canadian Gift & Book Shop....their selection of books is great...if you forgot to bring a good read... you can certainly find something there. Lots of variety in the shop, including a lovely selection of soaps, yummie preserves and handcrafted wood pieces. We bought a beautiful handcarved duck there!!!!

Ski passes are for Lake Louise, Sunshine or Norquay ski areas. Prices are based on double occupancy and do not include tax. Custom packages available. Package specials valid Sunday thru Thursday. Add $60.00 per day for packages over Friday and Saturday.
