Make it Unique
Make it the Canadian Rockies!!
Inspiration for Winter Weddings
Welcome to winter, which may seem an odd time to celebrate your marriage but it's getting more popular all the time.
I love a winter ceremony: snow, fireplaces, and faux fur appeal to my romantic side!!!
Think snowflakes and icicles as part of your wedding theme!!!
When Katherine Heigl celebrated her wedding last year with a winter theme, the popularity of icicles and fireplaces as a theme shot through the roof. Here are a few of my favourite winter wedding ideas:
Get married outdoors in the snow. Don your most impressive white faux fur and celebrate with your guests in the snow.
Destination weddings work beautifully in the summer so why not head to Banff and area, for a magical fairytale destination celebration? Winter Weddings give you all kinds of unique options. Maybe a Christmas Wedding?
Icicles, Snowflakes and Chandeliers
Ice it up, baby! What better reason can there be than a winter themed wedding to serve up the ice?
Imagine the possibilities of willow branches with bling. Incredible table centre pieces in silver and white snowflakes!!!!
Crystal chandeliers, bling candelabras and garlands encrusted in swarovski. Divine!
In winter, bare branches sparkle with frozen crystalline droplets, creating a luminous, icy white that can set the tone for a sophisticated wedding.
A winter wedding also allows you to be festive, playful, and a bit unconventional -- so use these seasonal ideas to get inspired and give your special day some sparkle!
Winter Wonderland Wedding At Chateau Lake Louise
This is a stunning venue for your luxury mountain winter wedding!
One of the highlights of the winter season in Lake Louise is the Ice Magic festival.
Enjoy the results of the Ice Magic Ice Carving Festival happening every January at the spectacular Chateau Lake Louise in Banff National Park. Artists from around the world are invited to participate in the Ice Magic Festival. With 34 hours of carving time, twelve teams of two are invited to transform 15 blocks of ice into themed masterpieces.
While it’s very interesting to see the ice carvers at work each day, the best day to attend is the final day when you can see the completed sculptures on display. If you 're not in Lake Louise during this period, don’t worry. The sculptures will stay in place for as long as the weather will allow, which is usually at least until the end of February.
A winter ice castle provides a captivating scene in the winter in contrast to the still turquoise waters during the summer months. The Chateau Lake Louise provides an amazing indoor setting for your wedding brunch or dinner. With the architecture of the hotel don't miss some spectacular indoor photo opportunities.
With indoor rooms for groups of 20 to 200 this hotel is a wonderful venue for a magical winter wedding!"
Both the St Michaels Room (up to 150 guests) and the Grand Ballroom (up to 250 guests) for dinner and dance receptions provide the convenience of having everything in one location.
The staff at the Chateau Louis provides each bride with superior service. Their attention to detail is unsurpassed to ensure your day is unique and special. The Chateau Louis is the perfect location to complete your Winter Wedding!"
Mt. Stephen Hall - ( Banff Springs Hotel)
This fairytale ceremony location has been the most sought after in Banff. The acoustics are unrivalled.
During the Christmas season (approximately November - January) the Mt. Stephen hall features a 2 storey high fully decorated Christmas tree.
You only need to work with their decoration colours to incorporate into your own decor." It's beautiful. It's an ideal venue if you're looking at a Christmas Wedding!
Winter Wedding - Romantic Ski & Snowboard Ceremony
Snowboard and Ski weddings are getting much more popular these days.
Couples are looking for a unique & personal way to say their vows.
Why not say ‘I do’ while doing that same thing you did when you fell in love with each other!
A ski or snowboard wedding in the Rockies is a great choice for another reason. It will not put you in debt for years to come! Check out Powder Brides, all inclusive package starting at $1,499.00 CAD you really can't beat the price!
For many couples all over the world skiing and snowboarding has become a great passion. It's an exciting, enjoyable past time and a place where they can enjoy this activities with the one they love the most. It only makes sense that this would be a romantic, and personal place to say your vows! Then you can celebrate!!! Fly down the hill & enjoy the rest of the day in some powder!
Now many of you may think it's as simple as hiring everyone on your own and meeting up at the ski hill. Yes...last year that is exactly what I thought too!
It turns out there is much more to it than that. Angela from sweet occasions banff spends hours getting the timing exactly right so the Groom does not see the Bride when she gets off the gondola.
She makes sure her bouquet is the right shape for the bride to safely hold onto with her ski pole. What about hair details.... really not essential with the wind & snow let alone a helmet! But some good things to consider if you think you might want to tackle a snow hill wedding!
Choosing the perfect quiet location on the ski hill. It's a special time for the Bride & Groom. Angela encourages you to do that the day before the wedding. If she's lucky, she can join you halfway through the day to do a few runs.
This will ensure she knows the location off by heart and relay the location to the Marriage Commissioner, Photographer, Videographer and any guests that will attend.
Now there's nothing to say that your ceremony will be completely crash free especially if you find a popular jump sought after by avid snowboarders!
When all is said & done a Banff wedding or Lake Louise wedding on the ski hills can be an exceptional and unique experience. A winter wonderland wedding is ideal for couples from all over the world who wish to incorporate their wedding in a Canadian Rockies ski vacation.
"And they skiied happily ever after..."
Winter Wedding Ski Hill Options...
Ski Norquay Wedding
Norquay is the closest ski area to Banff, and it offers the opportunity to purchase ski tickets by the hour, when getting married is more important than skiing or boarding.
For those who like to sleep in, this is the easiest place to arrange a ski wedding and get back to the hot tub before dinner.
Ski Sunshine Wedding
Sunshine has spectacular stunning high alpine terrain, with most of it above timberline. The distant landscape is dominated by Mt. Assiniboine (11,870 feet), known as the “Matterhorn of the Rockies”.
Sunshine is famous for 100% natural snow, and a snow pack that lasts into the month of May. Our morning ski overview will give you a chance to pick your favourite location for a mid-day ceremony. It is more complex to arrange for non-skiers, but it can be done.
Ski Louise Wedding
Perhaps the most stunning scenery of all of the ski areas. The background is dominated by Mt. Temple (11,630 feet), Victoria Glacier, a frozen Lake Louise, and in the foreground on the lake, the famous Chateau Lake Louise.
If you have non-skiers in your group, this is the easiest place to arrange transport for walk-on guests. The Grizzly Express Gondola will carry everyone within walking / skiing / boarding distance of the Eagle Ridge wedding ceremony site. If everyone is skiing or boarding, you can choose your favourite location on our morning ski about.
