Train Travel Banff - Reviews.....
The views are stunning and it was much easier to enjoy and take in than driving. Not to mention the unique perspective you get from the train, that you just can't access from the road.
The food on board was some of the best I have had in a very long time. I couldn't believe they could get food this great onto a train. This is truly an amazing trip. I have been all over the world to the finest hotels and have never received service like this.
I would recommend this trip to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation with some of the most beautiful scenery you will ever see.
The views of the surrounding mountains, waterfalls, etc were spectacular. The breakfast boxes and lunch boxes for the Red Leaf passengers were excellent also, far exceeding some charter airline food that we could mention.
Photographic opportunities abounded. Even the accommodation in Kamloops, although advertised as modest, was fantastic. All in all a memorable experience.
The scenery on the first day was of the spectacular rocky mountains. The second day contrasted with this and was of plains, desert like landscapes, rivers and beautiful lakes. On our journey we saw a grizzly bear, moose, several ospreys sat on nests and many different types of deer. I can honestly say this was one of the best experiences of my life.
The dome coaches are clear glass all round including the roof so you have a wonderful view both of the sky, the mountain peaks and the ground below.
All the seats in this coach faced forward so no one had their backs to the direction of travel. You could also go out of the coach at the rear onto a platform which was better for photographs than taking them through glass.
The seats are lovely and comfortable with plenty of leg room. You get 2 meals per day - breakfast and lunch - both silver service.
The menus were a delight and the food excellent. Wine was served with lunch and indeed upstairs in the seating accommodation after lunch. Fresh fruit was also available all day in the seating area.
The staff were first class.
